Most presidential/vp tickets show some regional balance. Reagan (California)/Bush (Texas). Roosevelt (New York)/Truman (Missouri). Washington (Virginia)/Adams (Massachusetts).
There have been exceptions. Clinton (Arkansas)/Gore (Tennessee).
However, one must wonder what Mitt Romney is thinking in suggesting an All-New-England ticket. Kelly Ayotte may be a marvelous choice, but given the unease many conservatives from around the country have with Mr. Romney, a conservative from a deeply red state in another region might be a better pick.
